In today's edition: A new (used) car...
Editor's note: The series "Shit my mother says" has come to be for I have taken on the role of my mom's caregiver. She's eighty-four years old, has recently been diagnosed with leukemia, and has lost her husband of fifty plus years this past spring. Prior to his funeral, I hadn't seen her in twenty-one years. "Duty (or Decency) in the time of Coronavirus". Hence the need for a car whilst giving care and having multiple hospital visits.
"What kind of car are you going to get?
"A Volkswagon Golf gti. Here's a picture."
"That's a big car, ilia."
"No mom. It's pretty small."
"Come on ilia, That's not a small car."
"It's a small car mom. Remember our Rabbits? This is just a new version of the Rabbit, it's called a Golf now, like it is in Germany."
Come on ilia, that is nothing like our Rabbit. The Rabbit was small. That's a big car."
The day before the gti was delivered, my mother was admitted into to the hospital. Thankfully, five days later, she was released today and I got to pick her up.
"ilia ... your car is small."

Shit my mother says.
Editor's second note:
She loves it and has been able to get out of the tartan sport seat that coddles anyone whom is lucky enough to reside their tush in. Thank you Volkswagen and thank you Recaro.
